Polyester vs Linen vs Cotton Curtains

Our customers frequently ask us the differences between natural and man-made fabrics for curtains, unfortunately, many man-made fabrics have a bad reputation from the 60s and 70s, when lots of clothing was often made from polyesters that didn’t "breathe." Many consumers have the idea that polyesters are inferior, but it is actually quite the opposite. Our fabric manufacturers are blending natural fabrics with polyester and offer the benefits from both materials.

Polyester

Pros

  • Durable and strong
  • Won’t fade or deteriorate as quickly
  • Mold resistant and anti-bacteria
  • Less likely to get wrinkled
  • Great insulator
  • Inexpensive

Cons

  • Can distort when hot ironed

Linen

Pros

  • Organic fabric, biodegradable
  • Repellent to insects and UV resistant

Cons

  • Creases easily
  • Can attract mold or mildew
  • Expensive

Cotton

Pros

  • Organic fabric, biodegradable
  • Strong and absorbent

Cons

  • Wears more quickly when exposed to the sun
  • Shrinks the first time it is washed
  • Susceptible to mildew

We finally moved in and got the curtains up... and windows cleaned, lol. We think they're great, and hope you agree. I can't thank you enough for your patience and support.

After visiting the photo gallery for inspiration, I ordered some curtains for my dining room. The curtains are beautiful! and arrived earlier than expected. I corresponded with the head of customer service many times throughout the process for help.. I would highly recommend Loft Curtains for high quality product, price, and customer service -- a rare find in today's world.

Wanted to say thankyou for your support in choosing the right curtains for our sliding doors. The free swatches sent were very helpful, as is your website and customer service. We are very happy with our curtains and the 90% block lining works great.
